floors.
And cork! And tile!
Out with the carpet, in with the hard surface! In other news, the self leveling underlayment is STUPID expensive. It was underestimated how much would be required and I got a call today that said I'd get ANOTHER call asking me how I'd like to pay for the additional 18 bags that have been needed.
At $55/bag - holy shit!

Bamboo and cork seem to be cheaper. Try to do some DIY and carpet tiles are always nice.

materials wise, our cork was way more than our wood, and we bought nice wood. apparently we bought EXCESSIVELY nice cork. The cork went in a lot easier though. It's a "snap together" product and the wood is glued tongue and groove.
We looked at bamboo but it's super sensitive to heat and humidity, and we live in Texas. I know that maple floors work JUST FINE in this state, so we got that.
